Principal Investigator: S. Sam Lim, MD, MPH
GOAL is led by Principal Investigator, Dr. Sam Lim, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Chief of Rheumatology at Grady Memorial Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology with Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health. Dr. Lim’s main area of interest is lupus with an emphasis on quality of life, medical access issues, and other outcomes research for lupus patients. He also participates in clinical trials for new lupus treatment medications. He is on the Medical Board for the Georgia Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) and he works with the LFA at the national level..

Principal Investigator: Cristina Drenkard, MD, PhD
Dr. Drenkard joined the Emory Division of Rheumatology as Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2007. She is also Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health. Dr. Drenkard is currently involved in epidemiologic research projects that seek to understand the health-related inequities in SLE, particularly among ethnic minorities. She focuses on the assessment of behavioral and environmental aspects that impact lupus outcomes and health care utilization across demographic groups. Supported by the Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia Chapter, in January 2008 Dr. Drenkard founded the first Hispanic Lupus Support Group in the state.

Project Manager: Charmayne Dunlop-Thomas, MS, MPH
Charmayne is a Senior Program Associate who oversees the day-to-day management and coordination of GOAL. She is dedicated to assisting lupus research with emphasis on quality of life issues and patient education, and has been doing so in Emory's Division of Rheumatology since 2006.

Gaobin Bao, MPH, Biostatistician
Gaobin is a biostatistician who conducts statistical data analysis primarily for the Georgia Lupus Registry and GOAL Cohort Study, as well as other research projects. He has been with the Division of Rheumatology since February 2010.
